If Martin Luther King Jr. was alive today, how would he address the people?

I had a dream, that one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. Black people are allowed to vote, and those who once considered themselves to be of not much use, have as much importance and place in this world as others. They say, America is a free country. It is a place where people are allowed to attain their dreams, irrespective of their cultural, educational, racial, or religious backgrounds. It is a country where women and men, black or white, are permitted to vote equally. However, why is it that we’re not safe? Why do the black boys and girls fear their lives so immensely? Are we really a free country? A place where people are killed unjustly, despite being unarmed or weapon-free? I had a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. So why is it that those with white skin can get away with murder so quickly? Why do they keep uttering the words ‘niger’ constantly?

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We still have a long way to go, we still have a lot of things to accomplish, our fight for justice is not over yet.

Your motivation and inspiration to bring an impactful change in society should not just end with me addressing this speech. The passion and motivation for the fight against oppression and injustice should be passed on to your children, so they can pass it on to their offsprings. Nurture your children in a way to fight for what they believe in, and to always stand side-by-side with justice. Your lives should be dedicated to fight for the truth, even if it means putting your life in danger. ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.’ The only way to put out a raging storm of fire is through the water. They can oppress us all they want, we will come back a thousand times stronger.

Let’s not fight their wars of crime with crime too. Let’s not fight hatred with hatred. When two fire explosions collide, it creates nothing but havoc and destruction. Let’s use our freedom of speech and fight against them in peace. Human beings are given the power to speak, use the power of your words to preach. Preach diversity, and preach against those who murder our black brothers and sisters unjustly. Preach the words of your hearts, and let your voices be heard universally. So that there might come a day when we can finally chant, these words without a second thought, ‘Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty we are free at last.’
